The UK Loggers Competition

Tilhill Forestry are proud to have supported the UK Loggers (UKL) competition and training day hosted by Coleg Cambria Llysfasi.

11 students took part in the competition and were involved in challenges including tree felling, combined cuts, fitting a new chain, precision cuts and more.

The event was well attended by current world champions who were able to demonstrate and share their expertise.

The winner was Mark Edwards with the highest number of points.

UKL spokesman Richard Siddons said: “It was a fantastic occasion, well done to Mark Edwards for an excellent performance, and thanks to all the judges, helpers and competitors for making it a great competition on a lovely Spring day,

Also, a big thank you to our sponsors for supporting competition logging as without them we could not run these events.

The event at Coleg Cambria Llysfasi is one of a series and will have played a part in attracting more people to the industry. The competition drives up standard, ensuring a strong competitive environment in the UK,”

Andy White, lead Forestry lecturer at Llysfasi, added: “It was great for us to host this competition and a brilliant opportunity for aspiring chainsaw and forestry students to learn from national champions here on the day.

“The skills demonstrated by the competitors at all level were incredible and we wish all the best of luck going forward to the UK World Logging Championship.”
