Training and developing our people

Tilhill Forestry knows that its people, with their knowledge, experience and dedication, are its most important asset. We are committed to investing in our people through training and development.

Employing over 230 people across the UK, we provide a friendly, challenging work environment where employees can develop their professional skills and build an enduring career in sustainable nature-based solutions.

Our Group Learning and Development team liaise closely with our operations teams ensuring we provide our training requirements to a good standard, supporting our graduate and management development programme and delivering learning and development across Tilhill Forestry.

Career Paths and Progression

Our core harvesting and forestry businesses have set opportunities for progression, but paths can take many forms. Our managers have the option to join our Business Development, Forestry Investment and CarbonStore teams as well.

Flexibility is key in allowing our staff to pursue their passions which in turn creates expertise and strengthens our teams.

Quality Assured

We pride ourselves on the quality of our work, staff competence and mentoring new starts. Their progress through our graduate programme ensures we maintain and develop the quality of our services.

The Safety and Assurance team work with the operational business to develop training and competency requirements for staff at all levels of the Tilhill Forestry business.

Tilhill Forestry is fully ISO certified and the quality of our safety management processes and incident record has been regularly recognised at the highest levels by the annual RoSPA Awards.

Routes to a Career in Forestry

The Tilhill Diploma in Forestry and Arboriculture, is part of a unique partnership between Coleg Llysfasi and Tilhill Forestry. Specially designed to prepare you for a successful career in forestry, the course will get you ‘industry ready’ and trained for employment.

The Foresight Sustainable Forestry Skills Training Programme offers fully funded three weekly forestry training sessions which include forestry-related activities with no previous experience needed.
