Peter Holmes (BSc Hons), Assistant Forest Manager (Graduate)
Peter grew up in County Durham and discovered the world of forestry a year or 2 after leaving school. He enrolled onto a land management course at a local college and worked part time for the wildlife trusts and conservation charities, managing Ancient Semi-Natural Woodlands and converting PAWS across the North-East of England.
Following this, Peter then decided he wanted to pursue a career in commercial forestry and enrolled at the National School of Forestry at the University of Cumbria studying BSc (Hons) Woodland Ecology with Forestry. Here he learned from experienced foresters from a variety of backgrounds from public sector to private sector which made me appreciate all aspects of woodland management.
Before joining Tilhill, Peter completed a placement year with Natural Resources Wales where he managed all aspects of commercial forestry from establishment and restocking to harvesting and continuous cover forestry within my beat in Mid Wales.
